STANDARDS CABLEACC Cable glands are Manufactured and tested to the requirement of B.S. 6121 : 1989, and other standards where applicable. Certain Glands in our range(i.e. commercial) whilst not covered by B. S. 6121 are generally made and tested appropriately by us as per requirement. MATERIALS AND FINISHED Glands are manufactured as standards in casting Brass (B.S.2874) and free from blow holes, defects, spots etc. Alternatively material also used on specific requirement. The standard material is unplated Brass. However on specific request platting will be done as per requirement. ENTRY THREADS  Metric threads 1.5 mm pitch are standard up to size 75mm. For size above 75mm pitch would be 2 mm BS 3643 applies only on Brass Cable Glands comply with BS 6121 : 1989. The following table gives the more popular forms available. (The table is not a size for size comparison chart. Other diameter thread forms can be supplied but special thread may increase the maximum across flats and across corners dimensions of the gland. Please refer to the individual product data sheet.  Selection charts are intended as a guide. It is strongly recommended that the actual cable dimensions are checked against the Gland dimensions to ensure a correct selection. This is particularly important where seals are required. CABLEACC. and their stockist cannot accept responsibility where an incorrect selection is made either of type or size.  4-2 NOTE :  Cable characters shown in RED incorporate the new circular conductors shown in BS 6346-1969 amendment No. 3717 (OCT-1981)  HOW TO SELECT THE CABLE GLAND The following is an extract from BS 6121 : Part 1, with edited additions to assist in gland selection. The information necessary for correct Gland selection are : Selection the type of cable and identify the Gland type from this catalogue. Check the type, size and voltage rating of the cable. Check ACTUAL size of cable over the inner sheath against catalogue. Check ACTUAL size of overall Cable diameter against catalogue. Check the size and type of armour or braiding, if any, against catalogue. Check any special environment conditions including enclosure material in relation to corrosion. Check whether installation is in Hazardous Area, and Consider seal protection for indoor/outdoor use.
